Charity Quilts

Since 1983, the Sarnia Quilters' Guild has made quilts for various charities. The first quilt, a blue nine patch, was donated to the Women's Interval Home for their use as a fundraiser.  Over the years, several quilts were raffled with the proceeds going to various local charitable organizations including The Chronic Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital, The Sarnia General Hospital, The Community Girls Home, St John's Youth Facility and Cystic Fibrosis. The Guild has also made placemats for Meals-on-Wheels, dolls quilts for the Salvation Army, wall hangings for the new Marshal Gowland Manor and Lap quilts for area nursing homes and the Palliative and Chronic Care Units at the local hospitals.

Our Pro Bono or Charity Quilt Program has benefited from donations of fabric by both members and non-members as well as monetary donations from the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Club.

Throughout the year, Charity Quilting days are scheduled for members to participate in making quilts for donation.

In return for our charitable donations, the Sarnia Quilters' Guild has received numerous letters of appreciation as well as a sense of pride and accomplishment in knowing that we have put a little joy into someone's life.
